Sleepin’ Dogz hails from the sun baked Treasure Coast of Florida. They are an original Rock/Jam Band consisting of rhythm guitarist/singer-songwriter Jeannie Burke, Lead Guitarist Leo Burke, Bassist/singer-songwriter Steven Pippin, and Drummer Jeff Newman. Their songs reflect their love of bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Allman Brothers Band, Aerosmith, Jeff Beck, Umphrey’s McGee, Tedeschi Trucks & Marcus King Band.
The honest delivery of Jeannie’s vocals echo the allure of Sheryl Crow combined with the soulful stylings of Susan Tedeschi. Pippin’s chameleon voice effortlessly morphs between sweet and melodic like Joey Landreth to full on husky grit like Joe Cocker. The two take turns throughout the show between lead and harmony vocals much to the delight of their audiences.
Leo’s guitar work adds an edgy excitement to the music. His poignant playing tastefully weaves throughout the songs. His tone and style is often compared to that of Jeff Beck and Jake Cinninger of Umphrey’s McGee though his humble demeanor would say otherwise.
Pippin’s melodic, groovy bass lines create a solid foundation for Jeff to drive the band. His tastefully powerful drumming leads the jams through every mood.
In addition to their original music, they enjoy paying homage to their influences and have fun surprising their fans by dropping in reimagined covers throughout their show or even sneaking in a snippet or two during one of their original jams. Together they put on an inspired live show that carries the listener through a myriad of emotions. Whether it’s heartbreaking, chicken skin inducing ballads or sweaty, soul shaking rock jams, this band’s mission is to move the music lover within.
