Short End
Written By: Jeannie Blatus

You rolled all in it yet you still smell like a rose.
Heard every possible reason that you had to go.
I'll be fine. Did your time. Cut your ties. Now you're free.
Still the question that I am left facing
Holds a heaping dose of reality.

Where does that leave me? Where does that leave me?
Here I stand left holding the short end while
You're sitting just as pretty as can be.
Where does that leave me?

You put on quite an act while looking me in the face.
Completely unaware that I was being replaced.
I was blind to your crime. I assumed you were mine, silly me.
I faithfully gave you all that I had while you lived
Your life of duplicity.

Where does that leave me? Where does that leave me?
Here I stand left holding the short end while
You're sitting just as pretty as can be.
Where does that leave me?

Go on and eat your cake. I sure hope it tastes sweet.
Enjoy it now cuz one day you'll awake to find
A face full of rotten teeth.

Here I stand left holding the short end while
You're sitting just as pretty as can be.
Where does that leave me? Where does that leave me?

Don't pretend it won't come to an end
When your newest lover decides to leave.
And you won't believe how you've been deceived.
You'll be asking the same question as me.
Where does that leave me?
